• Program Philosophy

Our program is designed to help children prepare for kindergarten through a variety of planned and free-choice activities. We provide activities that allow children to develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We believe that a strong, positive relationship between families and school is critical to the success of our children.

    Program Goals

Our goal is to create a stimulating and comfortable learning environment for children to learn through discovery, exploration and participation. We instill a positive perspective of learning in the 4 areas of student growth: language, cognitive (mental), motor (muscle control) and social development.

Children learn language skills through our environment by labels, charts, communication with peers, and hands on activities.  Cognitive development occurs during discussion of comparisons on topics such as the environment, seasons, different careers, or transportation. Motor skills are developed through cutting, following along with eye movement, and controlling their arm and leg movements. Finally social growth occurs when children share, take turns, ask for permission, and putting things away.  Above all, we believe children must experience success in what they try to do and receive encouragement to continue learning.

    Preschool Activities

Our program provides a variety of activities in each center…art, music, dramatic play, literature, math, science, ABC’s, sensory, blocks, outside, and manipulative.  Your child’s developmental level will be assessed twice a year. The assessment is called DRDP’s (Desired Results Developmental Profile), which was developed by California Department of Education to promote high quality programs. It measures each child’s individual level, and our preschool activities and lesson plans are designed to help your child develop to his/her fullest potential using the DRDP’s.

    Non-Discrimination Policy

Hamilton High State Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, race, ancestry, national origin, immigration status, religion, color, or mental or physical disability in determining which children are served. The preschool welcomes the enrollment of children with disabilities and will make reasonable accommodations for such children.  The preschool program refrains from practicing any type of religious instruction or worship.
